The first step is to use tape that does not have high content of acid.
It is because acid can degrade the corners of the book and it can cause even more damage.
In this case, you have to look for a tape that is used for archiving.
One example of the tape that does not have acid content is called scrapbooking tape.
The second step is to cut the tape into small pieces which are long enough for covering the corner and wrapping around the other side.
You will need about four inches if you are going to use the tape for hardcover books.
The third step is to put a piece of the tape at one corner of your book and then you need to press it down firmly enough in a way to keep the bubbles from forming.
After that, the end of the corner must be about halfway across the horizontal side of the tape.
The fourth step that you need to do is to make a few cuts in the tape in order to make it more smoothly fold around the corner of your book.
You need to make two slits.
Each of the slits should be at 90 degree angle which points toward the center.
Also, the slits must go almost all the way to the corner but you need to leave a few millimeters between the corner and the cuts.
The fifth step is to fold the middle part of the tape flat in opposition to the side of the book.
You need to follow this by carefully folding the each side tabs.
After that, you have to press the each part of the tape in turn to make sure that the each side is attached firmly and it does not have any bubbles that trapped underneath it.
Lastly, you can protect the other three corners of your book by wrapping them the same way.
