    • 1). Measure the width of the trailer and mark the center using the permanent marker. Measure at the top of the trailer, closest to the tongue and the toolbox.

    • 2). Measure the center of the winch and mark the winch with the permanent marker. This is going to be a point of reference to compare with the trailer.

    • 3). Drill the mounting holes for the winch using the template provided with the winch. Use the marks you made for the centerlines as a point of reference so the winch is centered on the trailer.

    • 4). Bolt the winch to the trailer using the 3/8-inch ratchet and sockets.

    • 5). Drill a hole in the side of the tool box and insert the rubber grommet. This is to protect the electrical lines from rubbing on bare steel and shorting out.

    • 6). Run the positive and negative cables from the winch through the hole in the toolbox.

    • 7). Connect the red wire to the positive terminal on the battery by disconnecting the wingnut on the terminal and placing the ring terminal on the post, then tightening the wingnut. Repeat this process for the black wire on the negative post of the battery.
