It is rather common knowledge that obesity is a dangerous condition for your general health. The expenses to society in the US is staggering and approaches several hundred billion dollars every year. What appears contradictory is the billions that are also spent on weight reduction products each year. The US is slowly gaining more weight with each passing year, or so it appears. Various culprits that only aggravate this situation are companies that manufacture highly processed foods and destructive drinks. There is certainly no secret that a great number of foods include high sugar and fat content. We will talk about some of the negative consequences to health resulting from obesity.

One of the most severe effects of obesity is type 2 diabetes, and a lot more new instances appear each year. What is becoming even more scary is the rising number of cases of this condition in younger people who are also severely overweight. Obesity may cause insulin resistance which is significant and a precursor to raised levels of glucose levels. A person who has already been considerably overweight or severely obese is at a higher risk with a sugar rich diet. One very detrimental ingredient used in so many carbonated drinks is high fructose corn syrup. There is just no comparison between high fructose corn syrup and refined sugar.

Common problems related to joints are seen to happen in very obese people. Notably susceptible joints are the knees and hips, and the reason for that is they carry so much weight. Osteoarthritis is often seen in these circumstances as well because of joint damage. However, the remedy is not always so clear-cut as merely changing a damaged joint. However, the best success occur when there is not an obese problem in these patients. But for individuals who could benefit from it yet are obese, this is simply not always advised. If a joint is replaced, what can typically occur are further side effects after the surgical procedure. The increased weight may actually cause the joint to become loose which often can further damage surrounding bone.

There is usually greater risk for developing blood pressure conditions when a person is obese. It would seem that almost every major function by the body processes is challenged. The occurrence of so much fat is just a huge demand for oxygen which is supplied by the blood. It all leads back to the heart clearly because that is what moves the bloodstream. The high blood pressure is simply a result of this additional demand caused by the extra weight. Another standard result is a chronically greater heart rate due to the higher workload necessary.

The problem of being overweight is an overall highly adverse influence on all the body's organs. But our discussion here today is just the tip of the iceberg in relation to all that is possible.
