Mistakes to Avoid on Your Writer Website

If you want to create a website to attract visitors to your freelance writing business, it can be very profitable.
So many people have websites today that it's almost expected that any person serious about an online business will also have one.
It doesn't cost a lot to purchase your own domain and many services allow you to easily build your own website even if you have no knowledge or experience in coding.
However, with it now so easy to make a website, a lot of writers are creating them and making some common mistakes that reflect very poorly on them as writers and as professionals.
I see this time and time again, often from writers who are very talented but their websites reflect poorly on them.
Here are some mistakes to avoid: · Too much flash, all flash-based site or "cutesy" animations that can make it difficult for pages to load · Grammar and spelling mistakes in your web copy · No samples of your writing- broken links to samples or samples copied in with formatting errors · Not providing details on the type of services you provide · Too much personal detail and not enough professional copy (it's good to mention your family, your hobbies and interests or how you got started writing but remember to also include info about your writing and related services) · Trying to mimic another professional instead of showing your own voice and personality · Making negative comments in your web copy- it just sets the tone for negativity; always use a positive voice/stance instead Now that you know about these mistakes to avoid on your writer website, you can set out to try to create a better website that's more professional looking which will work better for you.
