Dog Breeding - Are You Thinking of Having Puppies by Your Dog

103 6
You have got a female family pet dog and you are thinking of letting her have puppies.
Everyone agrees that it should be lots of fun, especially for the children who usually love playing with baby animals.
Unfortunately most of the work tends to fall on your shoulders unless your children are older and more responsible and are prepared to help with the feeding and cleaning.
You can make money from this venture as well as having fun, but be aware that there are hidden costs that you need to take into account, including the vets bills.
If you are knowledgeable as to what you are doing there are ways to keep the bills to a minimum and also avoid disasters.
Loosing a small puppy, or your beloved pet dying is the last thing you want to happen.
Some things are inevitable and cannot be controlled.
As with all breeding, including humans, there are the rare medical complications that you have no power to change.
After saying all of that, there are lots of dog births that go without any problems and without any help from you safely deliveriing their puppies.
A dog giving birth is called whelping and the newborn puppy is called a whelp.
So as you can see if all goes well it can be an economical venture and you can recoup your money and more in the process.
Your children can have the joy of playing with the puppies and watch them growing up learning valuable lessons along the way.
I am not advocating puppy mills where breeders breed as many puppies as possible often multiple breeds at the same time just to get money.
You can see this idea advertised on the internet as how to make (huge sums of money) owning a dog business.
What I am referring to are families or people who are only wanting to breed 1-2 litters from their pets they care about and love dearly so they will do the right thing by them.
Doing the right thing first is finding out what is involved and what is necessary for you to do.
Since I have had my Maltese stud I have people come to me for servicing of their bitches.
I am continually amazed that many people have no idea as to what they are supposed to do and sometimes land up putting their dog in danger.
So I have written a book for people like you that simply spells out, in order, the step by step hows and whats of dog breeding, from before conception to the time that the puppies are 9 weeks old.
