Dogs are considered as the most social animal with affectionate nature toward man.
They have guarded and protected us from the beginning of civilizations.
Dogs are undoubtedly mans companion and have been domesticated but at the same time they are aggressive, cunning, agile, strong and territorial.
They have sharp teeth, claws, good cardiovascular system for running and chasing, and strong muscular built.
They belong to Canidae family of the order Carnivores.
Dogs are scavengers and predators with strong jaws for tearing, attacking and sharp canines for biting.
Dog biting can be defined as seizing with the teeth to wound that part.
Dogs after so much domestication and continuous breeding reflect an intelligence level where in they do not bite and bark for no reason.
Any dog that bites or attack has a reason for doing it.
It may be due to dominance aggressive behavior developed due to playing of family members like disturbing the dog while sleeping or irritating him.
Fear of territorial invasion is another reason where the dog can attack.
Dogs can also bite when hurt, kicked, abused or they are touched at an injured place continuously that is dog provocation to bite.
Some dog breeds have inherited biting from their ancestors and explicitly show this characteristic whenever given a chance.
Another factor that determines whether the dog will bite or not is the socialization.
Dog socialization plays an important role in dog's life cycle; dogs must be give opportunity to socialize with other dogs.
They must be sensitized towards their owners, children and guest coming to the house.
This depends a lot on obedience training of dogs.
They should be trained well to make out the difference between alarming situations and identify the suspicious person.
They should bark but if required attack as well.
Dog biting can be very dangerous and require vaccination.
Nervous tissue vaccination is administered for dog bite after the exposure.
This involves injecting the vaccine into stomach for 10 days with two booster doses.
Now day's dog vaccinations have evolved due to cell culture technology and can be administered on buttocks and arms.
Apart from effective pain, there are secondary symptoms like mental stress, trauma, psychological effects fear, permanents scars and infections.
Dog bite also can result in rabies infection that is very serious and painful.
Dog bite can be avoided by educating common masses, not to go near stray dogs, not to attempt separate fighting dogs, not to enter houses with dog warning.
Dogs should be trained to avoid dog biting.
