well it depends on the quality you want to achieve from your canvas print as different printers use different canvas and it is usually just based on price as with anything there is always cheaper alternatives but you will lose quality, using inferior canvas Polly cotton is one of the best for quality in my opinion it gives a great finish with pictures that just jump off the canvas and it is great for stretching you canvas around stretcher bars this is the name of the frames they use for framing canvas printing as you can buy canvas with less cotton in it and this will go down in price the less cotton you have in your canvas but as I have said as the price goes down so too will the quality of the canvas print. so you do have to be careful, I think most try to get somewhere in the middle a reasonable price with a good finish if you are have a picture of your artwork reproduced and you really want that painted feel that you can get with a pure cotton inkjet ready canvas, this will give a great painted feel but is very hard to stretch around stretcher bars without damaging the canvas and not for beginners but the final.
Effects can be amazing if done by a professional and done right as there are many people online that sell canvas prints and all of them are competitively priced because like I said there are so many of them online so they do have to compete for your business so if they are cheap it does not necessarily mean they are using inferior materials as it could just mean they have been in business for longer and are passing the savings on but of course it could mean then they are selling a inferior product so it is always important to ask what type of canvas they use and if possible can you see a finished product.
