Fat Burning Carb Snacks and Sides To Fight Belly Flab In Women Over 50

After the age of 50 women experience hormonal changes due to the onset of menopause that change the way fat is deposited on the body.
This change can be seen in the belly and even though the reason why hormonal changes leads to increase belly flab is not well understood, it is a common challenge for women moving through their 50's.
One way to combat belly flab is to be "Carb Smart.
" This means choosing carbohydrates that do not result in a strong insulin spike.
For example, you want to stay away from eating simple carbohydrates by themselves.
When you eat a simple carb, such as a candy bar or piece of birthday cake your digestive system does not have to work hard to move that sugary treat into your bloodstream.
When the sugar is in your blood insulin is releases to help move the sugar out of the blood.
Easily digested simple carbs create a big insulin spike.
When insulin is spiked fat burning is shut down and insulin works fast to shuttle the sugar into storage.
Where does it get stored? Well, if you are a woman over the age of 50 the most likely storage space is your belly.
One trick is to not eat a simple carb without having a higher-fiber food with it.
In other words, if you are going to enjoy a piece of birthday cake, then eat a hearty salad beforehand.
The high fiber content in the salad will cause the sugar to be absorbed into your bloodstream slower and you will avoid the insulin spike and the belly flab.
Now, on to the fat burning carb snacks and sides that you can eat on a daily basis to fight belly flab: 1.
Cherries and Other Berries.
Frozen or fresh, they work the same to combat belly flab.
These low glycemic foods do not result in an insulin spike, but provide you with the sweetness you crave.
They are both a great source of fiber and great antioxidants to keep you healthy.
Enjoy a variety of berries, such as blueberries, strawberries, raspberries along with cherries, which top this list of superfoods.
2.
Bean and Lentils and More.
The more fiber you eat in a day the easier it will be to lose weight.
I like to challenge clients to eat 40 grams of fiber a day.
This is admittedly a challenge, but it shows you that it is hard to eat junk food when you are constantly filled with high-fiber and relatively low calorie foods, such as beans and lentils.
Make yourself a vegetarian chili with kidney beans and red beans, pile black beans onto your salad and have a side of lentils with dinner.
These high-fiber foods are a great source of protein and some of the best and most versatile sides for burning fat.
3.
Sprouted Grain Bread.
You do not have to give up bread to lose belly fat.
Having said that, a common problem for women over 50 is that they notice their belly looks and feels bloated after eating bread.
This could be the start of a food intolerance to gluten or wheat.
Try sprouted grain bread, such as the popular Ezekiel Bread that can be found in the health food aisle of many grocery stores.
Sprouted grain bread is high in fiber and protein which keeps insulin from spiking and keeps you feeling full and satisfied.
