1911 Cadillac Specifications
- The 1911 Cadillac was powered by a four-cylinder, inline, L-head, cast iron engine with five main bearings, says the ConceptCarz.com website. The carburetor-fed, normally-aspirated gasoline engine used magneto ignition, displaced 286 cubic inches and produced 32 hp.
- The engine was mounted in front and drove the rear wheels through a leather-faced cone clutch connected to a selective sliding-gear transmission offering three forward speeds plus reverse, and a driveshaft connected to a rear differential with a 3.43:1 final drive ratio, says ConceptCarz.com. Stopping power came from mechanical drum brakes on rear wheels only.
- The 1911 Cadillac was offered on a 106-inch wheelbase in three open and two closed body styles that seated two to five passengers on button-tufted leather seats. The brass-trimmed body was mounted on a separate metal frame. Options included a mechanical clock, speedometer, glass windshield and white-rubber tires.
- The model year 1911 was the first year that Cadillac offered front doors to protect the driver and front passenger from road debris and dirt, said ConceptCarz.com, but was the last year for acetylene gas headlamps and oil-fueled side and tail lights.
