AuthSMTP - Other Options
Anybody who travels a lot won't doubt have come across the difficulty of not being able to send their emails. You tried and everything was OK when you left home, but now you are in your hotel room and have connected to the internet something is wrong. You can download your emails fine, but that crucial promotional email you must send to you most valued client just won't go from your outbox!
The main cause of your issues is your house web Service provider ( ISP ) is trying to stop spam, so at least they do this with the right intentions!
Your web company provides you with a free to use email sending server, this is your SMTP ( simple Mail Transfer custom ) server, which allows you to send emails when you are directly attached to them. When you depart from your house you are no longer directly attached to them, in fact you are using a very different Internet provider. As your provider no longer knows who you are, as far as they know you might be anybody now, they don't allow you to use their SMTP server for sending emails.
Some net providers have combated this problem by permitting a secure login function for collecting and sending your emails, you can try asking your provider if they offer this method.
However if you employ a third party email, for example you have your own company website name and you want to use that e-mail it is unlikely your ISP will be too willing to assist you!
Some answers to Your Problems - ( First Some Free AuthSMTP Alternatives)
You have a several options; you may find that there's a web interface to your email which you can use. This would allow you to login to your email from any Internet connection as long as you have access to a browser ( Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari etc ). There are usually serious constraints to this service though, often you won't be in a position to access your old emails, and all emails you send through this service won't appear in your sent folder on your personal computer. However it is free!
A further free service if your own don't typically have a web interface to your email is to employ a thrd party service, for example Mail2Web. However you should consider the fact you are giving over your password details to a 3rd party site, something that you may not want to do.

If you are like me then you won't want to give out your passwords unless you actually have to, and in this situation you don't. You can get 3rd party SMTP e-mail services for very little money these days, we are talking less than $2 a month!
When using such a service you still collect your email using the same program you normally use, the main difference is you change your e-mail settings to send emails thru the 3rd party server. They allow you to connect from any ISP because they employ a login system to find out who you are. Do not be disturbed you do not need to type in a password and username each time ( well not unless you would like to ) as it's stored by your e-mail program.
As an added benefit because you are not revealing your private mail passwords to anybody else there is no chance using such a service can compromise you existing emails.
