A vaginal douche is the process that involves cleaning and rinsing the vagina.
One of the most common ways of doing this is to force water or a similar solution up into the vagina in an attempt to clear and flush away discharge and other contents.
Vaginal douches can be obtained from quite a few sources including an over the counter item in a chemist shop.
These douches are also made in a wide array of different fragrances by a large number of different manufacturers.
It is also possible to get these products on a prescription if you suffer from certain conditions such as yeast infections.
There are a lot of symptoms that can be associated with vaginal douches and these include burning, pain and itching to the vaginal area.
On some occasions there can also be a foul odor that is associated with the vaginal area and it can also be very painful to urinate.
Other symptoms that are not quite picked up as often are changes in the discharge from the vaginal area.
All of these symptoms are pretty much the symptoms that are associated with many different yeast and bacteria infections that affect the vaginal area.
When you are going to go and see the doctor about the symptoms it is very important not to douche because this will get rid of all the discharge that is around that area.
There are some women that use vaginal douches for a number of different reasons.
These reasons will vary from person to person.
Some women use vaginal douches in an attempt to get rid of any remaining blood at the end of their periods; however, this is not actually necessary as the body is able to clean itself.
Also, some women use them in an attempt to avoid sexually transmitted diseases or pregnancy after sexual intercourse.
However, this is really only an old wives tale as douching is not a preventative measure against sexually transmitted diseases nor is it a source of contraceptive.
Douching can actually increase the risk of developing a sexually transmitted disease.
There are a lot of women that use douching as a way of reducing vaginal odors.
It is very important that women who suffer from vaginal related odors seek a proper diagnosis as to the cause of it.
It is surprising the amount of women that use a vaginal douche especially given the fact that this is not a healthy thing to do.
Over the years there have been a number of studies that have shown that douching may reduce the chances of women getting pregnant by about thirty per cent.
Using a vaginal douche on a regular basis changes the chemical balance within the vagina and this makes the women more prone to infection and other bacteria within the vaginal area.
Using a vaginal douche can actually result in new bacteria being placed in the vaginal areas and it gets spread through the uterus, cervix and also the fallopian tubes.
Regular douching will therefore result in more infection and irritation in the vaginal area.
