Using Social Bookmarking to Promote Your Website

Social bookmarking solves the problem of getting instant traffic to your website.
Just because you put a lot of blood, sweat, tears, and HTML into building your website doesn't mean anyone's going to visit.
If no one visits, then you don't make any money.
If you're not making money, then why in the world are you doing this? Social bookmarking is a great way to address the problem of getting instant traffic to a new website.
You can also use it to revitalize a website you've left alone for the past few months.
Not everyone is on board with social bookmarking as a viable means of website promotion, however.
There are a few misunderstandings that prevent webmasters from seeing the incredible benefits of this search engine optimization technique.
Let me explain.
One of the main goals for virtually any webmaster should be to rank highly in the organic search results.
(High means in the top 10.
) Getting your website to rank highly is called search engine optimization (SEO).
Organic search results are the ones that are not paid for.
Surfers value listings in the organic search results much more highly than the paid search results.
Makes total sense! We tend to believe things we're told quite a bit more when the other person doesn't stand to gain.
Most surfers are not sophisticated enough to realize that some of the organic search results are just as manipulated as the paid results-just in a different way.
Getting quality backlinks is key to having pages that rank highly for their main keywords.
It's been my experience that links from social bookmarking sites, such as Digg, StumbleUpon, and Propeller are looked upon favorably by Google and other search engines.
Until you can get your pages ranked highly, what are you going to do about traffic? Well, you could use Pay Per Click, but that costs money you're not sure to recover.
Social bookmarking is the answer! Open accounts on all the social bookmark sites and start posting your own webpages.
Sure, it's gaming the system, but who cares? It works-at least at the moment.
Gaming social bookmarking sites is not going to last forever.
Just like Google Cash didn't last forever and MFA (made for AdSense) sites didn't last forever.
I mean the crux of social bookmarking is to have the community validate webpages.
If you're the only one posting your webpages on these sites, then you're circumventing the community validation part.
In other words, take advantage of these sites as great ways to get immediate traffic to your site while you can!
