Insurance Is Not an Option

Your carrier should have an up to date and valid insurance certificate, as is required by law.
Speak to your car insurance providers as to what their policies are on when the car is being shipped through an auto transport company.
How Insured is Your Vehicle? Speak to your auto transport company and go through their policies on damages incurred or in case of theft.
These policies vary from company to company and you should be aware of the consequences and policies prior to choosing a carrier.
Some questions you should be asking are:- · Do they offer full coverage in case of theft? · In case of damage how much coverage do they offer? · Can you purchase full coverage for extra cost? · What parts of a car are covered under their insurance policy? Don't fall for any promises they make verbally, make sure all their claims are written down on paper.
Brokers Don't Do Insurance Brokers are not required to provide insurance, hence cheap car shipping comes at a price.
Brokers only act as middlemen between the customer and the shipping company.
The shipping company however is supposed to provide insurance.
The better option will be to deal with a well reputed car shipping company, in order to avoid the hassle of dealing with the broker who then deals with the shipping company in case of damage.
Personal Belongings Nothing except the car is ever insured! So make sure that you remove all your personal belongings from the car before shipping it.
Car transport companies go through the car to make sure no personal belongings are lying around; however, it will be better to check for yourself.
Also inform the company of any dents or damages to your car so that they can include them in their report.
Making a Claim Check your car once it has been delivered, or at the terminal if you are picking it up.
Go through it thoroughly and see for any dents or scratches that weren't there before.
A good way will be to take pictures as it will be easier to claim.
The driver will most probably note down any damages during transport in his report at drop of.
In case he doesn't than you will need to make sure he agrees and signs the slip before leaving or you will not be able to make a claim.
Then just report to the company and claim insurance.
