Guide Review - 'Unlocking the Meaning of Lost: An Unauthorized Guide'
I really appreciate how Unlocking the Meaning of Lost: An Unauthorized Guide is organized, and I like the way it pulls together themes, by giving examples from many different episodes.
The book begins with the creation of Lost, and I learned a few new things about the series and the creators and writers. The book brings up some interesting points about the difficulty of sustaining a series like Lost, that I hadn't considered before.
It also includes behind-the-scenes type of info, such as how the series came to be.
I always enjoy these glimpses into the creation of shows.
It's not possible with the time it takes to publish a book, but it would be nice if it were more up to date. I'd like to read about seasons one and two during the Lost hiatus. Even so, I am impressed with the amount of season two information that is included.
While the book doesn't answer the yet unknown mysteries of Lost, Lynnette and David have clarified what the questions (mysteries) are and they have taken us to another level of thinking about modern civilization.
In addition, they have clarified who each character is and the struggles and demons that they are dealing with.
With thought provoking chapters, an extensive glossary, character sketches, and episode guides, this book is a must have for true Lost fans.
