How to Make Recordable Music for Stuffed Toys
- 1). Buy a recordable sound module for toys with squeeze buttons and an internal speaker. The module needs to be small enough to fit in your stuffed animal. Put batteries in the sound module.
- 2). Record music using an audio editing program on your computer, such as Audacity or GarageBand. Alternatively, load a song your child likes into the program.
- 3). Cut the length of the song down to the length of time the sound module can record. Add a fade out to the end of the song if it ends abruptly.
- 4). Press the record button on the sound module. Press play in your audio-editing software. Press the play button on the sound module to check the quality of the recording when you are done.
- 5). Open the stuffed animal by ripping the seam that runs vertically across the back or chest. If there is no seam, cut the bear's back or chest open using sharp scissors, such as embroidery or dressmaker shears.
- 6). Pull all of the stuffing out of the chest and arms.
- 7). Sew a zipper to the ripped seam using your sewing machine and a zipper foot. Install the appropriate needle for the toy's fabric in your machine before sewing. Alternatively, sew the zipper by hand with a needle and thread.
- 8). Place the sound module and all of its wires in the chest area of the toy. Put the play button in one paw and the record button in the other.
- 9). Secure the buttons to the paws according to the sound module's instructions. You might need to sew the buttons to the paws by hand.
