Instructions for Playing Street Craps

    Playing Surface

    • The playing surface is the largest difference between the two traditional versions of this game. With no table or method of keeping track of all the wagers, as is possible in a casino environment, the street game is forced to have very limited wagering options. In fact, the only wagers normally available are the "pass" and "don't pass" bets. This keeps the game simple, fast and the payouts easily calculated.

    Wagering

    • The shooter (the person rolling the dice) begins the action. This player will place a pass or don't pass wager for any amount up to the game limit, if one has been established. The other players will then have the option to cover this wager. They can cover the entire wager or a portion of it. Once the wager is covered, the shooter will role the dice. If the role results in a 7 or 11, all pass bets win and don't pass wagers are lost. If the role is a 2, 3 or 12 (craps), then the pass bets lose and the don't pass wagers are won. If the roll results in any other number that number becomes the point to make.

    Play

    • The shooter will roll again until the point number is rolled, or a 7 is rolled. If the point number is rolled, pass line bets, which became "come" bets after the first roll, are winners. The don't pass wagers, which became "don't come" wagers, will be lost. If a 7 is rolled before the point number, the come bets are lost and don't come wagers will be won. If the shooter makes the point, the turn continues with more rolls of the dice. Otherwise, the dice will be passed to the next player and the game continues. In some games, the other players can wager among themselves after the shooter's original wager has been covered. These will generally be come and don't come bets.
