Bo points out how Justin and Hope think he’s being reckless and a selfish fool with his own agenda. Justin denies thinking this, but reminds Bo that he screwed up and took a huge risk with the ransom money. “Your daughter could’ve been killed!” exclaims Justin. Just as Victor walks in, an angry Bo asserts that the department policy is against paying ransom, yelling that a kid dies. Victor wonders what’s with all the yelling.

After Justin leaves, Victor assures Bo that he’s on his side, and believes Justin should stay out of it. Bo rehashes how Ciara almost got killed. Victor thinks Bo did what he thought was best in trying to save his child. “No. I did what I know is right,” counters Bo, who states that Hope is bitter as hell and angrier than ever. Bo complains how Hope decided that Dean deserved a big financial reward even though it’s against policy. He reminds Victor that he could get fired for this, since he’s Hope’s husband and the police commissioner. He wonders if he’s just supposed to forget police policy and hope he doesn’t get fired. Victor agrees that he should, if that’s what it takes to save his marriage. He encourages Bo to just talk to Hope and work it out.

Bo soon gets off the phone, then tells Victor that the witness in Chicago didn’t pan out. Victor advises his son to be contrite as hell to Hope.

Back at Bo and Hope’s house, Hope agrees to do whatever Dean wants. “I wanted the money! But that’s all shot to hell thanks to your husband!” fumes Dean.

He seethes how Bo had to play God and go on TV, forcing him to kill his girlfriend and her brother. Hope swears to Dean that she won’t turn him in and urges him to go far away and start a new life for himself. Dean quips what a great performance Hope just gave and puts his silencer on his gun. Justin soon knocks on the door. Dean points his gun at Hope and orders her to get rid of him. Otherwise, Ciara is dead.

Hope nervously answers the door to Justin, who announces that the reward money has been transferred from her account into Dean’s. Hope begins to shut the door on him, but he wonders if she’s in that big of a hurry to get rid of him. “Well, you know how much I love to cook and I have something on the stove and I am trying to get out of here,” she lies, hoping Justin catches on. Justin agrees to call her later and notes how stressed she seems. Hope reiterates that she has something on the stove and shuts the door.

Back inside, Ciara calls for her mommy. Hope picks a frightened Ciara up. Dean urges Hope to make a choice: “You and the kid are going to go for a ride with me, or I’m going to kill you both, right here, right now,” he threatens. Justin comes charging back inside and attacks Dean, both falling on the ground. Dean is on top of Justin, who is struggling to get the gun from Dean. Hope urges Ciara to run upstairs. She gets her gun, but Dean shoves her against the fireplace mantle, knocking her out. Ciara calls for her mommy and rushes towards her. Justin grabs Dean and continues to fight with him. Hope awakens with an injury to her forehead and panics when the gun goes off. Both men are lying still on the floor.

Convent of the Holy Cross

Rafe and Nicole arrive at the convent, but are greeted by Sister Claire. He asks Sister Claire to tell Sister Theresa they are there to see her. Nicole refers to the whole situation as ridiculous and says she’s only giving him five minutes. Rafe refuses to let her go anywhere until she fesses up to what she may or may not have done to Sami’s baby. Sister Claire re-enters the room and announces that Sister Theresa was called away to another convent due to an emergency. A relieved Nicole quips what a shame it is and claims that Rafe hasn’t been himself lately with the bizarre, paranoid things he says. She retrieves her cell phone out of his pocket and soon leaves.

Rafe and Arianna

Rafe encounters Arianna in the park. She embraces him, expressing how glad she is to see him after she tried calling him a hundred times. She asks him what’s going on with Nicole and Dr. Baker. Rafe laments that Nicole managed to slip through his fingers again. He tells her that Sister Theresa left the convent, which meant that Nicole went free. Arianna remembers how Rafe said he wanted Sami to have peace, but wonders what if Sami can help him figure this whole thing out. Rafe insists that he can’t tell Sami yet until he has proof. He still intends to find out what Nicole has to do with this whole mystery.

Back at the DiMera Mansion

Nicole returns home, and Stefano comes downstairs flashing back to Rafe and Nicole heading out to the convent. Meanwhile, Nicole is kissing E.J., remarking how she missed him. He notes how rattled she seems, which she denies. She wonders if their honeymoon to Paris is ever going to happen. He wonders if she wants to get away from something or someone, like Rafe Hernandez. The queen of denial wonders why he would bring up Rafe Hernandez. E.J. reveals that he ran into Sami at the park, and she told him that Nicole had a run-in with Rafe. He confronts her over letting Sami take Sydney out while she rested. E.J. reminds Nicole how he feels about Sami. Nicole offers to end her friendship with Sami and proceeds to go upstairs to check on Sydney. “I’d like to know what you and Rafe were fighting about,” he requests. Nicole states that she was fighting with Rafe because he’s a world class jerk. They are interrupted by E.J.’s phone, and he heads in the other room to answer it.

Nicole is about to take a drink, but Stefano stops her and says she doesn’t need it. Stefano refers to it as a rather good day, since Sister Theresa was called away before she could open her mouth about Nicole. Nicole realizes that Stefano set it up and wonders what he did to Sister Theresa and when she’s coming back. Stefano declares that Sister Theresa isn’t coming back in the foreseeable future, so Nicole has peace of mind now. “Life is beautiful,” smiles Stefano, who says that only the two of them know her secret.
