Just because the economy took a turn for the worst it does not mean that you do not need a vacation.
People sometimes believe that going to a location nearby is the way to save money, when in reality you could do much better if you head a little further like to one of the beautiful Mexican beaches.
If you think that Mexico is too dangerous or expensive then you should read on because most vacation spots are still very safe and very affordable.
Here are some of the places you can go to while saving money.
Tulum You may want to head to Cancun, but the secret is that you will be paying a lot more for the same type of beach going experience that you would get in Tulum.
Tulum is part of the Riviera Maya and the sands and waters are what you would get in Cancun with the exception that you have the Tulum Mayan ruins in the background.
The town has a lot cheaper options in all lodging, entertainment and food.
If you are heading to the Riviera Maya, then Tulum maybe your best choice when it comes to prices, plus the good news is that you will not have to deal with the larger crowds.
Mazunte Mazunte is located in the state of Oaxaca and it is very similar to Huatulco which is the expensive beach town in the state.
Mazunte is safe and you have several other beaches close by to explore.
The experience that you will get in Mazunte is as real as a Mexican beach vacation gets.
You should not expect the big resorts in this area of Mexico, but if you do not need them then you will be happy spending less than 10 dollars a day on food and about 20 on lodging.
Barra de Navidad Heading to Puerto Vallarta is not expensive by far and if you can afford it great, but if you want something a little bit more affordable then head to Barra de Navidad.
The small town of Barra de Navidad is located pretty close to Puerto Vallarta so the beach is very similar but the town is so small that you will feel as if you are one of the very few on the sand.
Barra has a population of 5,000 and it is not what you would call a luxury beach vacation, but it is still one that you will never forget, and all for those with a tight budget.
