    • 1). Open the document or web page you wish to capture as a screenshot.

    • 2). Expand the program's window to ensure the largest possible screenshot by clicking the "Maximize" icon located at the top right corner of the program window.

    • 3). Press the "F11" key on your keyboard to enter "Full Screen" mode if saving a screenshot of a web browser window.

    • 4). Press and hold the "CTRL" key on your keyboard, then tap the "Prt Scr" button, which is typically adjacent to the "INSERT" key on standard IBM/Windows keyboards. If using a Macintosh computer, press and hold the "Command," "Control" and "Shift" keys, and tap the number "3," then click on your screen. This command will copy the screenshot to your computer's clipboard.

    • 5). Press the "Esc" key to exit "Full Screen" mode, if necessary. Minimize the program window containing the page you are saving as a screenshot.

    • 6). Open a graphics editing program such as "OpenPaint," "Paint.NET" or "gIMP" (see Resources).

    • 7). Click the "Edit" menu, then click "Paste" or "Paste as New Image" to paste the screenshot into the graphics editor.

    • 8). Click the "File" menu, then click "Save." Type a name for the saved screenshot, then select a save location. Select an image format from the "Save as type" drop-down menu, then click "Save."
