How to Repair and Replace the Rubber on an RV Tank Vent
- 1). Carefully cut around the old rubberized sealant surrounding the tank vent on the roof of your RV. Make sure you do not cut deep enough that the rubber roof membrane is punctured.
- 2). Heat and scrape away all the old rubber material. Remove as much of this old sealant as possible. Go slowly and, again, try not to damage the roof membrane itself.
- 3). Liberally apply the new self-leveling roof sealant over the edges of the vent and the screws holding it into place. Completely seal all seams and areas where water can penetrate into the RV. Let this cure before inspecting the vent and applying more sealant as necessary.
