For years the only recreation in the woodlands of northern Minnesota was the outdoor variety, but that all changed when the state allowed Indian reservations to operate casinos. Under the agreement, only blackjack and poker are allowed as table games, and slot machines must be electronic. While many casinos simply threw a few slot machines in a warehouse, some went the extra mile to build large complexes that offer much more than just gambling.
