Fighting Games for Multiple Players
- PC fighting games offer players highly customizable gaming experiences and access to players around the world. The game types vary wildly. The fantasy-based gory fighting game series "Mortal Kombat" is represented by five different games, including "Mortal Kombat," "Mortal Kombat II," "Mortal Kombat 3," "Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3" and "Mortal Kombat Trilogy." "MTV'S Celebrity Deathmatch" is a gory fighting game based on the popular claymation show. Cartoon-based fighting games include "TMNT: Death Match" based on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and "Tom and Jerry in Fists of Furry," based on the long-running cartoon. Comic books are represented by "X-Men vs. Street Fighter" and "X-Men: Children of the Atom." There are many wrestling games available, including "Wrestling Encore" and "WWF In Your House" and entries in the "Total Extreme Wrestling" series "WCW Nitro."
- The Nintendo Wii features a hand motion controller that can be used in many fighting games. The fighting games on the Nintendo Wii are quite diverse. "Godzilla: Unleashed" is a fighting game where players can control various monsters from Godzilla movie history. "Castlevania Judgment" features characters from the popular "Castlevania" vampire game series. Cartoon series games include "TMNT: Smash Up," and "Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi" 1, 2 and 3. There are also several boxing games, such as "Don King Boxing," "Punch Out!" and "Facebreaker." One game unique to the console is "Super Smash Brothers: Brawl" which features characters from the Nintendo gaming universe.
- The Xbox 360 allows players to fight each other over the internet. Popular games include the "Marvel vs. Capcom" series. These games let players fight using characters from the Marvel Comic book universe and the Capcom gaming universe. A similar series is the "Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Universe" group of games. Players use the fantasy-based characters from the "Mortal Kombat" games and the DC comic book universe to fight in bloody battles. The Xbox 360 also features the realistic, martial arts focused "Samural Showdown Sen." Wrestling games include "WWE All Stars." "Def Jam: Icon" is a realistic fighting game involving real world rappers. The Xbox 360 has a motion-capture controller called the "Kinect." As of April 2011 only the cage fighting game "Fighters Uncaged" is supported.
- The PlayStation 3 (PS3) features online gaming support for its multi-player fighting games. It also features a motion control system, called Move. As of April 2011 only "Kung Fu Rider" was compatible with the Move. PS3 fighting games are often more realistic than other gaming consoles. For example, "Deadliest Warrior: the Game" features realistic simulations of various world fighting styles. "EA Sports Sougou Kakutougi" is a realistic simulation of that particular fighting style in a multi-player environment. The bloody world of the UFC is simulated in "UFC Undisputed" in 2009 and 2010 editions. Wrestling is represented by "WWE Smackdown Vs. Raw" which, as of April 2011, has editions from 2008 to 2011. "Samurai Showdown" is a weapon-based fighting game that depicts battles between Samurai and Ninja warriors. Weapons include swords, daggers, nunchaku and sai.
