Green Tea For Weight Loss - Does It Really Help Or Is It All Hype?

We have all heard for years that drinking green tea for weight loss is very effective.
  There are lots of claims on the internet and elsewhere that make green tea sound almost miraculous.
  But, does it really help and, if so, how? Green tea has been used all over the world for over 5000 years, starting in India and China.
  It has been researched extensively over the years and has been found to have tons of great benefits.
  Green tea has powerful antioxidants in it called polyphenols.
  These antioxidants can help remove free radicals from the body.
  Free radicals aren't hippies from the 60's, they are evil compounds the body makes that cause all kinds of problems.
  Foods that have antioxidants in them, like green tea and other vegetables, can help to neutralize the free radicals, keeping them from doing as much damage.
  That sounds great and scientists think the tea can help a host of problems from diabetes to cancer.
  But, does it help you lose weight?  The jury's still out on that question.
  Some studies find that it can help boost your metabolism and therefore help you burn calories faster.
  Other studies find that it has no concrete effect on weight loss.
 Just like everything involving weight loss aids, whether or not it works depends on who you ask.
However, it doesn't have many calories (if any) and if you don't put a lot of sugar in it you can use it as a substitute for soft drinks.
  That would help you lose weight.
  Soft drinks are a leading cause of obesity today since they have tons of calories and a ridiculous amount of sugar.
  Green tea also has about a third of the caffeine of coffee and sodas.
  Reducing the amount of caffeine in your daily intake can have lots of its own benefits; including better sleep, less stress, better heart health, and better hydration.
Unfortunately, as much as marketers of diet pills and programs want you to believe it, there is no "magic bullet" for weight loss.
  You have to eat right, exercise regularly, and limit your stress.
  Green tea for weight loss can be a tool in your box to help you accomplish this goal but not the only one.
