Type 2 diabetes is also termed non insulin dependent diabetes.
It is a lifelong ailment and is caused by the elevated level of sugar in the blood stream.
It is the most common form of diabetes.
Of all diagnosed cases of diabetes around 90 % suffer from this type of disease The symptoms of type 2 develop quickly in adolescent as well as in those children who are at an increased risk of this type of diabetes.
There are many common signs of diabetes, these include
  • Fatigue
  • Blurriness in vision
  • Frequent and slow healing wounds
  • Excessive hunger
  • Insatiable thirst

When a person suffers from this type of diabetes his body does not respond properly towards insulin.
This condition is termed insulin resistance.
It means that liver, fats and muscle cells do not respond positively and effectively towards insulin.
The result is that sugar present in the blood cannot enter the cells where it had to be stored as energy.
When sugar is unable to enter the cells, abnormally high levels of glucose start to build in blood stream.
The condition is termed hyperglycemia.
High-level of sugar in blood continues to activate the pancreas to produce more insulin.
But this triggering is not enough to keep up the requirement of the body.
Generally fat people suffer from diabetes but this does not necessarily means that thin can never be the victim of this deadly ailment.
Type 2 diabetes can develop in any one especially the elder individuals.
Following are the risk factors of diabetes
  • Age more that 35 years
  • HDL cholesterol value less than 35 mg/dl
  • Triglycerides more than 250 mg/dl
  • High-level of blood pressure
  • History of gestational diabetes
  • Women who have given birth to overweight babies
  • Previously diagnosed impaired glucose tolerance by physician
  • Ethnicity
Signs of Type 2 Diabetes There are many people who do not have any sign of diabetes but still are suffering from diabetes type 2.
This is the most ironic part of the story.
The signs of type 2 diabetes are harmless enough to be ignored by the sufferer.
In the past few days if a person notices a reasonable change in his weight without even trying for it then it is important to go for a medical check up.
Other common signs of diabetes are Excessive thirst.
Excessive hunger.

Excessive urination.
Sudden weight loss.
Blurriness in vision.
