How to Register for an Unemployment Number in Alabama
- 1). Gather information that will be needed to complete your claim. You will need your Social Security number, name and address of your most recent employer, and the beginning and ending dates you worked for your most recent employer. Military personnel will need a copy of their DD214 and noncitizens will need their work authorization number.
- 2). File your claim either online (see References) or by telephone at 866-234-5382.
- 3). Review your monetary determination. This form should be mailed to you the day following the completion of your unemployment claim. The form will report your eligibility and benefit amount.
- 4). File a weekly certification of benefits either online (see Resource) or by phone to report any money you earn while on unemployment. Unemployment payments are issued one business day after filing your weekly certification.
