How to Build a Multi-Language Website With Frontpage
- 1). Open Microsoft FrontPage. Double-click on the FrontPage shortcut on your desktop, if you have one. Otherwise, locate the Microsoft Office folder in your programs menu and click on the FrontPage application.
- 2). Create a blank website using a template. With FrontPage running, click "File" then "New" and then "Page or Web." This will open a task pane that displays your available options. Since you want to use a template, under "New from Template" section, click on "Web Site Template." The available templates will be displayed in a dialog box. Choose the appropriate template by clicking on it.
- 3). Customize your home page. After the new website has been created, you will see your homepage displayed in a task pane to the right of the folders list, located on the left of the screen. Begin designing your website. Assuming that you already have decided the purpose of your site, begin adding text by double-clicking in a frame and typing.
- 4). Translate text. When you are ready to begin setting up the sections of your site that will be in a foreign language, the easiest and least costly method is to type the text directly into the translate text box offered by Yahoo! Babel Fish (http://babelfish.yahoo.com/translate_txt). You can also translate an entire website to set up a mirror site in another language using this service by utilizing the "Translate Website" functionality. You also can use www.freetranslation.com in the same manner, as well as Google Translate (http://translate.google.com).
- 5). Paste the translated text into FrontPage. Copy the translated text by right-clicking the translation and clicking "Copy" from the menu and placing your cursor in the appropriate section of your website located in FrontPage. Right-click the mouse and choose "Paste" from the menu and your newly translated text will now appear in the specified location. This text can be customized in the same way as your native language text.
