How to Choose a Trade Name
- 1). Create a list of adjectives that accurately describe your business. The first step in choosing the perfect trade name is to brainstorm for words, adjectives and phrases that can be used to create the name. Write down any and all ideas that you think of from descriptive words to the name of the business owner(s).

You should also check with the Department of State in your specific state to find out if anyone has previously registered your trade name in the state. If these formal sources check out, you should still do a basic Internet search to see if anyone who has not registered the name is using it as a website address or to identify their business. If all your checks came back clear, you have a green light to use your chosen trade name.
