• The size of the repair: The most important thing to consider is the damage that has been done to your driveway.
  Find out if the damage is done at one particular place or there are bigger damages elsewhere.
  Remember it is always better to tackle damage as early as possible because then you might not need to incur a large sum at a later stage.
  If the required repair is small, you can try it yourself but if it requires larger repairs it is better to contact a contractor.
  
• The use of materials: Another important consideration is the choice of materials that you wish to use for your driveway repair.
  If it is a concrete driveway, then epoxy patch can be the best option if you chose to do it yourself.
  If the damage is more, you can opt for hot mix asphalt or cold compound of asphalt.
  You can also think of concrete overlay if you want to change it completely.
  
• The design of the driveway: The driveway design does matter when it comes to repairing it.
  If you have a long and winding driveway, then it is better to keep the repairing material on the truck itself so that moving it from one place to another becomes easier.
  If the motorway is short, then you can get it dumped at one place and use a garden rake or shovel to move it.
  
• Cost: You must first discuss the cost with your contractor prior to starting with the job.
  Let him know your tastes and preferences and then ask him for an estimate.

• Professional or DIY: Prior to the repair, decide whether you wish to hire a professional or opt for a DIY plan.
  If the damage is less on your concrete driveway, then try doing it yourself with minimal supervision.
