What Causes Low Blood Pressure?
- Dehydration is one of the main causes for low blood pressure. Dehydration can be a result of exercise and not drinking enough water while exercising.
- When the body's organs are severely inflamed, blood pressure can drop as a result of this inflammation. Medical conditions such as acute pancreatitis deplete the body of a normal blood flow and cause low blood pressure.
- Moderate to severe bleeding can deplete the body of much needed blood flow. As a result, moderate to severe bleeding as a result of ulcers or diverticulosis can cause low blood pressure.
- Low blood pressure can also happen as a result of a weakened heart muscle. When a person has a heart attack, their blood pressure can be very low as a result of the strain put on the heart.
- A slow heart rate (bradycardia) can also attribute to low blood pressure. Bradycardia decreases the amount of blood pumped by the heart which results in low blood pressure.
