One of the best reasons for starting a home based business is that you take control over not only your time, but your own attention as well! The workspace is distraction free at home.
At a regular office, your attention is easily grabbed by your coworkers, your boss, or the phone (often belonging to someone else).
When working from home - you are your own boss, so no need to worry about getting disturbed by anybody else.
This can greatly increase your productivity.
Studies have shown that it takes a large amount of time to get back the focus your lost while putting your attention on something else.
Just answering the question your co-worker asks might take you 30 seconds, but those 30 seconds might mean that it takes another 5 minutes to get back into "the zone".
All it takes is a little push to lose focus, and once its lost - it is hard to gain.
So chalk that up as another great reason to work from home.
Of course, there are now other distractions to worry about.
Bob talking about the reports he needs done is annoying, but what about the fact that you now have that good old TV always within reach? And that your kids are home sick and want attention? Or that you just have to go buy that new book from the store, or pick up your friend from the airport, or...
