How to Use a Remote Connection
- 1). Log into your system as an administrator. Click "Start" and right-click "Computer." Choose "Properties" from the drop-down menu options.
- 2). Click the "Remote Settings" link, located under the "Control Panel Home" pane on the left. The "System Properties" window opens up. Select the "Remote" tab.
- 3). Click the radio button that corresponds to "Allow connections from computers running any version of Remote Desktop."
- 4). Check the "Allow Remote Assistance connection to this computer," click "Apply" and "OK."
- 5). Click "Start" and type "mstsc" in the "Start "Search" text field, then press "Enter." The "Remote Desktop Connection" window opens up.
- 6). Type the IP address of the remote computer you wish to access in the "Computer" text field and click "Connect." A "Windows Security" window opens up. Enter your username and password, then click "OK." Allow for the connection to occur.
- 7). Log off by clicking "Start" and choosing "Log Off."
- 1). Log into your system as an administrator. Click "Start," click "Control Panel" and double-click "System." The "System Properties" window opens up.
- 2). Select the "Remote" tab and check the check box that corresponds to "Allow users to connect remotely to this computer. Click "Apply," and "OK."
- 3). Launch the "Remote Desktop Connection" utility. Click "Start," "All Programs," "Accessories," "Communications" and choose "Remote Desktop Connection." The "Remote Desktop Connection" dialog box opens up.
- 4). Enter the IP address of the remote computer you wish to access in the "Computer" text field, and click "Connect." Enter your username and password, if prompted to. Allow for the connection to occur.
- 5). Log off, when necessary, by clicking "Start" and choosing "Shut Down." Select "Log Off" from the drop-down menu and click "OK."
