How to Draw a Lucky Star

    • 1). Draw the outline of the Lucky Star. First, use the pencil to sketch a circle for a head. Add a larger circle below this for a body. Outline arms by drawing one line horizontally protruding out each side of the body. Only draw the top half of the body.

    • 2). Dress the Lucky Star's body by drawing sleeves on its arms. Do this by adding rectangular shapes on top of the lines you drew to position the arms. Keep the longest edge of each rectangle curved to give the picture dimension.

    • 3). Add a circle at the end of each arm to illustrate the Lucky Star's fist, then add an egg shape at the top of each circle to represent a thumb. It should appear in the "thumbs up" position.

    • 4). Give the Lucky Star distinctive spiky hair. Start at the base of the head and draw large spikes around the perimeter of the circle. Each spike points towards the ground. Refer to your Lucky Star printout to make it easier to copy the exact style.

    • 5). Complete the character's facial features. Eyes are represented as two lines joined together at one end, to create a "V" shape turned on its side. Draw the nose as a two small "C"s joined together but placed horizontally.

    • 6). Continue to add details to the Lucky Star's face. For example, add two dashes high on the forehead for the character's eyebrows and then a large circle below the nose for an open mouth.

    • 7). Draw a pattern on the sleeves and body of the Lucky Star. Use short angular lines so that the same Japanese cartoon style is replicated.

    • 8). Color in the Lucky Star using the colored pencils. Use light brown or peach for the skin, and bright colors for the clothing. Keep it to the cartoon's style by using red and white, as these are the colors of the characters' school uniform.
