How to Replace the Shifter Handle on a Ford F-350

    • 1). Turn off your F-350's engine, and open its hood. Disconnect the black cable running to the car battery.

    • 2). Remove the screws holding the cover on the steering column. Pull off the top and bottom portion of the cover.

    • 3). Remove the two screws holding the shifter arm to the steering column.

    • 4). Disconnect the small wire harness that connects to the shifter arm. Pull the shifter arm out of the steering column.

    • 5). Connect the new shifter arm to the steering column, and wire its electrical connection. Tighten the two screws to secure the new shifter on the steering column.

    • 6). Place the top and bottom covers back on the steering column. Tighten its screws to secure it to the vehicle.

    • 7). Reconnect the black battery cable and close the hood.
