Rajsamand is situated in the southern part of the desert state and was formed from the Kingdom of Mewar, also known as the Kingdom of Udaipur. It was named after Rajsamand Lake on April 10, 1991. Rajsamand Lake is an artificial lake created by Rana Raj Singh of Mewar and founder of Rajsamad in the 17th century.

Rajsamand has a total population of 11.56 lakh and the literacy rate is 63.14 per cent. Rajsamand comprises four sub-divisions, seven tehsils as Amet, Bhim, Deogarh, Kumbhalgarh, Nathdwara, Railmagra and Rajsamand and seven blocks and has 206 gram panchayats and 237 patwar circles.

Currently, Hari Om Singh Rathore from Bharatiya Janata Party is the Member of Parliament for Rajsamad Lok Sabha constituency which comprises eight Vidhan Sabha constituency namely Beawar, Merta, Degana, Jaitaran, Bhim, Kumbhalgarh, Rajsamand and Nathdwara.

BJP leader Shankar Singh is the setting Member of Lagislative Assembly from Beawar, BJP leader Sukhram from Merta, BJP leader Ajay Singh from Degana, BJP leader Surendar Goyal Kumawat from Jaitaran, BJP leader Hari Singh Rawat from Bhim, BJP leader Surendra Singh Rathore from Kumbhalgarh, BJP leader Kiran Maheshwari from Rajsamand and BJP leader Kalyan Singh Chouhan from Nathdwara.

Tourist Destination of Rajsamand

A Hindu temple, Eklingji was built in 15th century in Rajsamand. Eklingji is believed to be the ruling deity of Mewar Princely State and the Ruler Maharana rules as his Dewan. The temple complex features 108 temples within its high walls. The walled is made of marble and granite. It has an enormous double-storied, elaborately pillared hall under a vast pyramidal roof. It also features a four-faced image of Lord Shiva in black marble. Eklingji is a revered place of devotion for Hindu tourists in India. Most of the faithful pilgrims visit the temple on Monday to seek the special blessings of Lord Shiva. On other days of the week the temple is relatively crowd free.

A beautiful mountain pass in the Aravalli Range, Haldighati connects Rajsamand and Pali district. The name deviered as the mountain pass features a turmeric coloured soil. In Hindi, Haldi is known as Turmeric which is Yellow in colour. The pass has its historical significans as Battle of Haldighati took place here in 1576. The Battle was fought between Rana Pratap Singh of Mewar and general of the Mughal emperor Akbar, Raja Man Singh of Amber. In June 2009, Government of India dedicated Maharana Pratap National Memorial which comprises bronze statue of "Chetak", the favorite horse of Maharana.

The other are a fortress – wildlife sanctuary, Kumbhalgarh. Nathdwara temple is one of the most eminent holy temple which features Lord Shrinathji and the Jain temple at Ranakpur.

The nearest railway station is Kankroli Junction at just 2 kilometers and airport is Udaipur airport at 67 kilometers from the town of Rajsamand. Although there area features large number of Government colleges but Hindi new papers and online Hindi news is the mostly read in the district. Recently, Rajsamand news revealed education facility in the district is lacking behind.
