How to Measure Blood Acidity
- 1). Prick the tip of your finger with a lancet or finger pricker. Squeeze the flesh around the prick to draw out some blood.
- 2). Dip the end of your pH test strip into the blood. Wait a few minutes for the test strip to register a reading.
- 3). Compare the resulting color on your test strip to the color chart that came with it. The average pH of healthy blood is 7.365, so your test strip should come back looking similar to the color in the 7 to 7.5 range. If it does not match that range, you can determine how acidic or alkaline your blood is by finding the color on the chart that best matches your test strip.
- 4). Follow your blood test by testing your urine or saliva as well. Although these methods are not quite as accurate, they should give you a similar reading to confirm your blood test results.
