Preparing a nursery for one baby is hard enough, but when you're expecting twins, you can expect double the trouble.
But you can make your job easier if you carefully plan how you want your nursery to look.
Do You Need Two of Everything? First, make a list of everything you might need.
Do you really need two of everything? While most parents prefer two cribs, this is not always economically possible.
If you are on a budget, you may consider letting your twins share the same crib for the first few months of life.
Some parents let their twin babies sleep in the same crib until they are six months of age.
Six months is more than enough time for you to save up for an additional crib.
If you choose to have two cribs, this means that you will need two baby crib bedding collections.
You may want to choose matching baby bedding sets, though you have to also keep in mind that each twin has his or her own distinct personality.
So not everything needs to match.
You may want to choose a safari animal crib bedding set for one twin, and a dinosaur baby bedding set for the other one.
If you decide to go this route, just make sure that the different sets have complimentary colors or similar color palettes.
Another item in your crib that you will need is a changing table.
Do you need two or one changing table? You may think that you only need one, but there may be times that you have two fussy babies with wet diapers.
You may want to choose to get two changing tables for those instances, if space and budget allows.
However, one changing table may suffice.
You can also change your baby on sofa or on the bed.
The decision is yours.
Think Storage Space When setting up the nursery for your twins, you need to seriously consider storage space.
If you decide on having two cribs, you will find that space in the room is limited.
You will need to come up with creative ways of getting additional storage space.
To do this, look in the closet.
Do you have a good closet organizer that you can use? If not, you may want to consider installing shelves or rod systems that separate each baby's clothes and shoes.
You may also want to consider using bookshelves and storage boxes as storage space.
If you have the budget, you may want to consider choosing a crib design that also features storage space on the side of the crib, or on the bottom of the cribs.
Another nifty idea for getting extra storage is to use shelves on the walls of the nursery to place items that you may need.
