How to Put a Shih Tzu's Hair Into a Top Knot
- 1). Scoop the hair from the corner of each eye of your shih tzu and part it straight down the center above the nose. Only gather the first half-inch of hair or so above the eyes for this section.
- 2). Hold the hair straight up in one hand, your grip about 3/4 inch above the scalp, and lightly brush it.
- 3). Push the shih tzu hair down to create a loose bunch of hair and wrap a rubber band around it 2 to 3 times, until snug.
- 4). Grab the center hair of the shih tzu's knot and brush, gathering any wisps and creating a smooth appearance.
- 1). Gather another bunch of hair on your shih tzu about an inch behind the first knot.
- 2). Wrap a rubber band around the knot right next to the skin.
- 3). Gather the two knots on the shih tzu and band them together.
- 4). Repeat steps 1 through 3 yet another inch back for the third knot.
- 5). Split the entire top knot down the middle and band the two halves, leaving the center hair that was brushed extra from your shih tzu's front knot aside.
- 1). Brush each of the shih tzu's three top knot sections separately, attempting to shape them into an overall cascade of hair.
- 2). Attach a bow to the front of the knot of your shih tzu dog to cover the rubber bands (optional).
- 3). Use hairspray or Sticky Ticky to put any stray hairs into place.
