  Cookeville sits on the Cumberland Plateau and is the home of Tennessee Technological University. The small city is also home to Oreck, a vacuum cleaner manufacturer. Three lakes lie close to Cookeville that provide year-round fishing and recreation opportunities for residents and visitors, who can find a variety of hotel and motel lodging in the area.

• Just off Interstate 40 and U.S. Highway 111, Knight's Inn is 8 miles from Burgess Falls State Park where fishing is allowed year-round and hikers can use the trails to explore the waterfalls and rivers in the park. As of December 2010, the room rates at Knight's Inn start at $39 a night. The motel accepts pets and has parking areas for buses, RVs and large trucks.
  
  Each room has Internet access and cable television. Some of the rooms have microwaves, refrigerators, irons and ironing boards. The motel provides a continental breakfast and coffee. Guests can use a washer and dryer located within the motel. A seasonal swimming pool is available, and a restaurant adjacent to the motel.
  
  

Key West Inn

• The Key West Inn is a 42-room hotel in Cookeville off Interstate 40. This hotel provides its guests with microwaves, refrigerators, coffee makers, cable and Internet services in each room. Key West Inn serves a hot breakfast to its guests, along with coffee. The hotel accepts pets for an additional fee. Guests have access to a fax machine and coin-operated laundry. The hotel recognizes senior discounts, corporate discounts, and government employee discounts. As of December 2010, the standard room rate at Key West Inn is $41 a night.
