Colorado is a picturesque state. It is a lovely region filled with incredible beauty. Of course, you have to go through the grueling task of traveling up in this region. If you think you are ready, hold your horses. If your body cannot be acclimatized to the conditions up in Denver, for example, it might be best to increase your rest days or to get oxygen canisters. Though it is advised to adjust in the natural way, some people need extra help. In some cases, for people with asthma, for example, the dry air in Colorado, makes it a perfect way to help them recover their respiratory functions faster than before.

Go for a high carbohydrates diet for the moment. According to doctors, a high carbohydrate diet, compared to protein rich diets, do not require that much oxygen to be synthesized. Also, carbs can replace the glycogens in the muscles to prevent proteins from getting used.  That is a really great tip if you are planning on going to elevated places like Colorado. You should also not forget your daily dose of potassium as well as water, to prevent dehydration and to replace the electrolytes in the body.

Take it easy when going further. If you think you are having hard time breathing, it might be because you are already tired and your body is adjusting to the new air and oxygen conditions. Take it slow and easy. Pushing yourself can only lead to disappointments.
