Tipping in Blackjack

Most books on blackjack mention a little bit about tipping.
Different authors have different opinions about tipping and how often and how much to tip the dealer if you are winning and are having a good run of luck.
Obviously, you should never tip the dealer when you are losing.
Yet, I have seen many players do exactly that, apparently, thinking that this may influence how the dealer deals the cards.
Of course if the dealer did change the flow of the cards based on whether you tip or not this would be considered cheating.
When a player is winning he or she is feeling good and having fun and they want to be able to share in the fun by having the dealer like them so they may over tip.
A player needs to remember that the winning streak will eventually end.
When it does the dealer will not tip you when you are losing.
I have seen, usually, small stakes players make a bet for the dealer on, almost, every hand played.
I once watched a $2 bettor,also, bet $2 for the dealer.
So, if he wins the hand he breaks even.
I don't see what their point is, unless, it is to have the dealer like them.
Some card counters think it will give them some cover if they tip and this may be true once in a while but, usually, not.
A tip will most likely not get you anything in return from the dealer.
He will not deal deeper into the deck for you.
If the house suspects that you are a card counter they will tell the dealer to shuffle sooner whether you are tipping or not.
My advice is to never tip unless you are getting something in return from the dealer and that is, usually, never.
On occasion it does happen.
I once signaled for a hit but the lady dealer had checked her hole and told me I did not want to hit that hand.
She turned over a small card in the hole and promptly busted her hand.
She got a nice tip on my next hand.
So, my advice, after playing 34 years is to never tip unless you are getting something in return.
There is really no reason to do so.
If you are winning some dealers will make hints and may even make rude comments.
If you don't like how you are being treated simply get up and walk to another table.
There are lots of them.
Sometimes, after I have had a nice win and I get up to leave the dealer may say something like thanks for the bets in a snide way.
I simply smile and say thank you.
Smiles don't cost me any money.
