How to Get a Flat Stomach - Choose the Right Diet and Exercise Plan and You Can Achieve Firm Abs

Ask most people which part of their body they are most unhappy with and would like to change, and many will answer 'get rid of the belly'.
A flat, toned stomach is one of the most admired parts of being in shape - it makes you look fit, healthy and sexy.
A flat tummy is also much younger looking - look at the many common terms for extra tummy fat: middle-aged spread, beer belly, pot belly, spare tyre, love handles, muffin top, etc.
A flat stomach is attainable for most of us, but requires a three-pronged attack: 1.
Aerobic exercise and a weight-loss diet 2.
A specific diet avoiding certain foods 3.
Core strengthening and toning exercises 1.
Weight loss program Just doing hundreds of sit-ups will not give you a six-pack, you first have to address any abdominal fat which covers those much desired muscles.
We all have that lovely grid of abdominal muscles on our bodies, you just need to reveal them! You need to do some form of aerobic exercise for 20 mins 3 times a week, and follow a healthy weight loss diet plan to get rid of any excess weight.

Abs diet There are certain foods that are recognised as not being helpful to a flat tum.
They can cause bloating or gas or water retention.
Foods to avoid for a flat stomach are: processed meals, high fat foods, high sugar foods, high salt foods, alcohol and for some people certain beans, and also some vegetables from the cabbage family, such as brussels sprouts.
For a flat stomach you need to eat a healthy balanced diet: whole grains, lean protein, leafy green vegetables, berries, yoghurt, olive oil and Omega 3 rich foods.
If you suffer from bloating it is advisable to seek advice from your doctor as this can be an underlying symptom of more serious complaints.
If you haven't done any exercise for a while, or if you have any doubts about your health, it's always a good idea to talk to your doctor before you start.

Core strengthening exercises No exercise will spot reduce fat, but following a program of abdominal exercises will help you gain strength, tone and definition, which will become visible once you have lost any excess belly fat.
You need to do different exercises to work your front, lower and side(obliques) abdominal muscles and to help strengthen your core strength overall.
The bonus is that as well as toning your abs you will strengthen your back muscles, helping you avoid injuries.
