Essential Accessories for Your Power Tools

Any good workman or tradesperson will tell you that although having the right tools is perhaps the most important thing for any job, the accessories can be equally as important to maintain a safe working environment and to ensure that the job in hand goes as smoothly as possible. For example, it's no good being stuck on a job that will take days with only one drill bit or saw blade!

So, let's just take a brief look at some of the accessories available for your power tools.

Batteries - Spare batteries are going to be absolutely essential to get through any serious job. Most people will be employing cordless power tools and whilst they are much more efficient to work with and are safer thanks to there being no cables wrapping around your feet, it does mean that you need to keep spare batteries handy. So, whatever machine you are using, make sure you have those all important batteries backed up.

Chargers - Following on from the issue of spare batteries, you encounter another issue, and that's how to keep all those spares charged up! Battery chargers for your specific tool will help to keep you topped up with power and the job ticking over.

Drill Bits, Blades and Sander Belts - You might work your way through several bits and blades on any job but some jobs will be particularly stubborn which means you will get through them even faster. So, as well as your batteries and chargers, it's well worth having a good stock of spare bits and blades, so that when one does give out on you, you can quickly get another one attached and carry on.

Safety Glasses - You can still get safety goggles, but glasses tend to be a bit lighter and easier to wear and perhaps also a little less cumbersome. Many worksites will maintain strict codes of health and safety and will not allow you to continue with work until you have all of the right equipment on site and where appropriate, being worn.

Torches - It's always worth carrying a torch. You might encounter a job, where there is no electricity or power of any kind and the only way that you will be able to see what you are drilling or sawing is by the light from your torch! Most definitely an essential accessory!

Belts and Pouches - If you had to carry all of these bits and pieces around in a plastic bag, they would soon get lost and damaged. So, your tool belt and pouch is the place to store all (or most) of your accessories for the job.
