How to Write a Rental History Letter
- 1). Obtain a signed disclosure agreement from the individual that will allow you to share the private information regarding his previous addresses, payment amounts or other necessary information.
- 2). Confirm the subject's previous addresses, corresponding dates of when he lived at those addresses and how much he paid while there. List whether or not he paid on time, the condition the property was in when he left and any violations of the leasing agreement, if any.
- 3). Tell the person requesting the information on your former tenant whether or not you would lease to the tenant again and why. Feel free to share your opinions and share examples, but be brief and professional.
- 4). Address the letter to the property manager, landlord, bank or real estate agent who is requesting the information.
