What Are the Differences Between Ascensia Breeze & Breeze 2?
- Both the Ascensia Breeze and the Breeze 2 utilize data management software. You upload your glucose tests to the program on your computer and track your numbers. The Ascensia Breeze only saves 100 tests for uploading, while the Breeze 2 saves 420 tests. The Ascensia Breeze uses the WINGLUCOFACTS® software while the newer Breeze 2 uses GLUCOFACTS® DELUXE. The upgrade in software allows for easier report printing, customized settings and online help.
- The displays for the Ascensia Breeze and Breeze 2 show the same information, with the Breeze 2 offering more options. The glucose number is still the largest number on the screen. Both devices also note the date and time the sample is tested. The Breeze 2 tracks which test strip, out of the 10 on each disc, you're using, informing you when you must change the disc. It also lets you toggle between the recent tests to quickly track your glucose levels.
- The Breeze 2 received the Ease-of-Use Commendation from the American Arthritis Foundation. This labels the device as providing an optimal amount of comfort as not to lead to injury or stress on the hands. The Ascensia Breeze is a similar shape to the Breeze 2, but doesn't have this commendation. The bottom part of the Breeze 2 is wider than the Ascensia Breeze, allowing users to grip the device easier.
- The Ascensia Breeze was around $50 when it was released. Now that a newer model has come out, it can be purchased for about $5 through online shopping outlets. The Breeze 2 is slightly more expensive due to its recent release date; it's about $15-$20 per device. The test strips for the Breeze 2 are around $13 for a box of 50. Ascensia test strips are about $110 for a box of 100.
