Tricks to Hide Your Roots
- Roots can be hidden by adding volume to your hair. After washing and conditioning with volumizing shampoo and conditioner, towel-dry your hair, add volumizing spray and brush your hair while holding your head upside down. Use a paddle brush and blow dryer to get the volumizing effect. Finally, leave Velcro rollers in your hair for 20 minutes. Your roots will be hidden under the extra inch of hair volume.
- Applying hair mascara to your roots can instantly cover up any roots trying to make an unwelcome appearance. Swipe your mascara wand on the roots of dry hair, using a color that matches your dyed hair color. Once it dries, your roots will disappear. For light-colored hair, baby powder can be applied to the roots for the same effect.
- If you don't have time to hide your roots using volume, mascara or baby powder, a simple hat, scarf or headband can quickly cover them up. These accessories can also double as a stylish fashion statement.
- A slightly different hairstyle, centered around a new part, will cover up flattened areas of the hair that expose natural root colors. Leaving the new part messy will add a hip style to the new hairdo while exposing only your hair's dyed color.
