Do you have travelling plans this summer? Most of us take advantage of the warm weather and sunshine and travel to cottages, beaches, camp grounds or even abroad. Vacations are supposed to be relaxing so you don't want to have something pop up in the middle of your trip to ruin the time. We've provided a few tips to help you get the most out of your vacation and keep it stress free!

Prior to departure keep the following in mind:

1)      Make a list! This list should be of everything that you and your travelling partners use on a DAILY basis. Things like medications, phones, wallets, cards etc.

2) If you are travelling abroad contact your bank and credit card providers. Make sure your cards will work in your destination countries and that you understand the costs associated with their use. Coming home to outrageous bank fees is never a good feeling!

Flying to your destination? That can take some extra care.

3)   They have signs everywhere saying it, but still people get distracted and lose their baggage. Make sure you are constantly keeping an eye on it or have someone you trust watching it while you check in etc. This can help prevent you losing your bag to either thieves, other tourists (accidental) or even security!

Driving in other countries is a great way to get around, but there are some important things to consider.

4)      They do not all drive on the same side of the road as you! Countries with lots of tourism often have high crash rates due to tourists turning into oncoming lanes of traffic. Make sure you've familiarized yourself with the local rules of the road and are comfortable behind the wheel before you depart on a long road trip.

Leaving your home in the winter? Live in an area with freezing temperatures?

5) Leaving your home for an extended period of time is always nerve wracking, but is especially so if the temperatures are freezing or below during your absence. A frozen home can equal a nearly ruined home. Use a system like a freeze alarm to protect your home from these disasters.
