    From Start Menu

    • 1). Go to the "Start" menu and highlight "All Programs."

    • 2). Locate Windows Live Messenger from the list of available programs.

    • 3). Right-click the item and select "Send To" followed by "Desktop (Create Shortcut)."

    From Shortcut Wizard

    • 1). Right-click a desktop area and select "New" followed by "Shortcut."

    • 2). Click "Browse" to search for the Windows Live Messenger executable file. Browse to the following location from the disk drive where Windows is installed: Program Files\Windows Live\Messenger\. Click to select the "Msnmsgr.exe" entry, then click "OK."

    • 3). Click "Next" from the shortcut wizard menu as shown. Type a name for the Windows Live Messenger shortcut. The name can be anything you wish.

    • 4). Click "Finish" to place a Windows Live Messenger shortcut on your desktop.
