Dozens of years of research and medical experience have shown how much obesity is harmful to health. The expenses to contemporary society in the US is shocking and approaches several hundred billion dollars every year. Of course the food and drink industry does not help matters. The major issue with so many foods and drinks is they have harmful varieties of fat and are loaded with sugar. One of the most significant repercussions of obesity is type 2 diabetes, and more new occurrences appear annually. What is becoming even more scary is the rising chance of this condition in younger people who are also severely overweight. Obesity is recognized to cause insulin resistance which is significant and a precursor to higher levels of blood sugar. There is little question that years of ingesting high sugar content meals and drinks plays a substantial role. For years, various alerts have been made about the use of high fructose corn syrup in many soft drinks and other popular beverages. Regular white sugar is undesirable enough, however high fructose corn syrup is exceedingly sweet and damaging with prolonged ingestion.

Premature complications concerning joints can often be a side effect of the obese condition. Certainly the lower extremeties bear the most load, and so it makes sense that obese people have hip and knee joint complications. Osteoarthritis is commonly seen in these circumstances as well as a result of joint damage. Unfortunately the usual practice of joint replacing is not necessarily a viable option. However, the most effective success occur when there is no obese condition in these patients. Naturally only a medical professional can make the final determination for those with excessive weight problems. At minimal it can be a risky course of action as the heavy weight on the synthetic joint can cause complications. The joint that was replaced may begin to be mechanically unsound that is highly undesireable.

Problems are very common involving the heart and especially high blood pressure. It seems that just about every major function in the body is challenged. The presence of so much fat is just a huge demand for air that is furnished by the blood. The net impact is to put a terrific pressure on the heart due to the needs of the excess fat tissue. The high blood pressure is actually due to this added demand caused by the extra weight. Another common result is a chronically greater heart rate caused by the higher workload required.

It is extremely apparent that obesity is a condition that seriously impacts all functions of the body. There are many more equally unsafe conditions that can easily result from an obese condition.
