  The three-door, hatchback version of the Ford Focus line of small cars bears the name ZX3. Introduced with the unveiling of the Focus for the 2000 model year in North America, the model saw little change for 2001. Other body styles available in the 2001 Focus line were the ZX4, which is a four-door sedan, and the ZXW, a five-door station wagon.
  
  

Exterior Dimensions

• The 2001 ZX3 stretched 163.7 inches from bumper to bumper. The width, including the side-view mirrors, is 78.7 inches. Height from the ground to the top of the roof is 56.7 inches. The wheelbase, which is the measurement between the center of the front and rear wheels, is 103 inches. The front tread width is 58.4 inches, while the rear tread width is 58.1 inches.
  
  

Engine and Transmission

• The 2001 ZX3 has a 2-liter, four-cylinder engine producing 110 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 125 pound-feet of torque at 3,750 rpm. The compression ratio is 9.35:1. Available at extra-cost was a higher-output, 2-liter engine dubbed the Zetec. This engine produced 130 horsepower at 5,300 rpm and 130 pound-feet of torque at 4,500 rpm. The standard transmission was a five-speed manual unit. A four-speed automatic overdrive was optional.
  
  

Fuel and Fluids

• Fuel capacity is 13.2 gallons of 87-octane unleaded gasoline. Coolant capacity is 6.1 quarts. Engine oil capacity for the standard 2-liter engine is 4 quarts and 4.5 quarts for the Zetec engine. The manual transmission fluid capacity is 2.1 quarts, while the automatic transaxle takes 6.9 quarts of fluid. The windshield-washer bottle holds 4.2 quarts of fluid.
  
  

Lubricant Specifications

• The oil viscosity for the standard and Zetec engines is 5W-20. The automatic transmission fluid type is Mercon V. A ZX3 with a manual transmission uses synthetic manual transmission fluid. The recommended brake fluid is DOT 3 or DOT 4.
