How to Deposit Money Orders
- 1). Check the "Pay to" name on the front of the money order. The name must match the name shown on your identification document.
- 2). Go to your local bank branch and complete a deposit slip. Enter your name and bank account number on the slip, along with the current date and the amount of the money order you're depositing. List each money order separately if you're depositing more than one.
- 3). Sign the back of the money order using the same name listed on the front of the document. Write, "For deposit only" at the top of the money order, then sign your name underneath.
- 4). Present your signed money orders and deposit slip to the teller. Give the teller your identification when asked. Take your receipt and keep it until you receive your next bank statement and verify that the deposit has been properly recorded.
